Abrazo Ear Warmer

SHARE

Welcome to Creations By Courtney!

The Abrazo Ear Warmer is a quick, stash-busting crochet project that is the perfect winter accessory.

This is also a fun crochet project made with tunisian half double crochet stitches. I chose the tunisian half double crochet stitch because it creates a lovely subtle texture with extra yarn overs created during the forward pass. The return pass is also different than standard by pulling through 3 loops. With the extra yarn overs and pull throughs, a lovely texture is created of raised vertical bars that looks like stripes, and a second slanted vertical bar.

In wanting everyone to be stylish, multiple sizes are provided in the pattern from toddler to adult. By not adding the twist, it can be worn as a traditional ear warmer and made in neutral or masculine color to gift for anyone in the family.

YARN

I chose Lion Brand Scarfie from my stash to make the Abrazo Rayado Cocoon, and had one skein left to be used to make a lovely matching accessory.

Scarfie is considered a bulky weight yarn, but feels closer to a roving (un-plied) worsted weight yarn that has a lovely color transition. It’s soft and easy to work with, but it can be difficult to frog due to it’s loose twist.

There’s an array of color choices to make an Abrazo Ear Warmer to match your favorite winter gear. Or choose a comparable yarn in a solid color.

    1. This is a great way to use the Scarf yarn when you don’t have enough for a larger project. You can make lots of ear warmers with each skein.
